This confusion started breeding since childhood. An Asal Marathi Mulgi like me studied in a convent school wherein I had to touch Ganpati Ji’s feet before stepping out of the house and lit a candle in front of Mother Mary once I reached school. It seemed pretty harmless at that time since my family encouraged me to celebrate every festival at home. Religion, tradition and festivals took a back seat once I started studying engineering. It was only after going through the endless yagnas, poojas and shantikaran’s during the wedding phase of life that I started questioning its emergence. Soon I decided to understand the fundamentals of religion, tradition and everything that proclaims itself to be “The Ultimate Truth”. I started looking for an English version of the Bhagvad Gita on Flipkart. Before hitting the “Buy Now” option I glanced over all the unread books in my shelf and gave up. However after my wedding, every time I was asked to execute a specific set of rituals during the myriad festivities celebrated in India (which as a quintessential bahu I did), the question ‘WHY’ used to revolve around my head like a halo!
Although the workshop succeeded in gifting me a fresh perspective towards the chaos that my mind was entangled into, my thirst for more answers increased day by day. That is when, I started reading “Frequently Unanswered Questions” by His Grace Chaitanya Charan das and I haven’t stopped since then. It is a simple 95 page book which answers the most radical questions which might have crossed everyone’s mind at least once. His approach towards each question is so effortlessly simple that it makes you want read it again and again to truly understand its depth. The book answers rudimentary questions like ‘Is the concept of God not created by man to maintain morality in human society?’ Or ‘Is God not a psychological crutch for the weak-hearted?’ Or ‘If God created everything, who created God?’ and many more! The author is Software engineer turned into a monk and then a spiritual teacher who conducts lectures all over the world. He also writes articles for imminent newspapers like Economic Times and Hindustan Times to name a few. He has authored more than 7 books and his writings are converted into several Indian and foreign languages.

Keep Learning!
(P.S. – Movies like ‘OMG-Oh My God’ and ‘PK’ have challenged us to re-think about the definition of God. It’s high time we do some research and decide our beliefs for ourselves, without drawings conclusions blindly based on some movie or an ideology.)
